Inclusion Scan

Make diversity and inclusion concrete for the entire organization

Flying start to inclusive organizing. Start with self-reflection and discuss the results together. Focus on inclusive thinking and acting, and learn from the report with concrete tips. Use the scan as a basis for working towards greater inclusion.

About the Inclusion Scan

How do I view diversity? How do I interact with people who are sometimes vastly different from each other and from me? How do I relate to these others?
The inclusion scan does not measure how diverse an organization is or which unconscious biases are present, but maps out which skills people have in-house to make inclusion a success, to offer more space for differences, and to make better use of everyone's talent. The personal report contains tips and advice and increases the insight into yourself.

The inclusion scan covers five aspects: managing differences, open to diversity, space for inclusion, collaboration, and open to change. These are mapped with underlying scales. Think for example of inclusive leadership, decision-making, social inclusion, being open-minded and trust. You also think about how you yourself experience inclusion.

The scan was developed by Dr. Saniye Çelik, lecturer in diversity and inclusion in Leiden, and eelloo. The scan is suitable for any organization.

  • Scientifically underpinned
  • Easily accessible and quick to fill in
  • A strong foundation for interventions for inclusion

Methodology: getting started with diversity and inclusion

The inclusion scan contains approximately ninety questions that you can answer in fifteen minutes. The positive report invites self-reflection and discussions with colleagues. You can publish the results online on a personal summary page.

  1. Have everyone reflect on themselves. The scan can be completed in 15 minutes.
  2. Learn from the positive report with development tips. The inclusion scan has more the character of an intervention than a measurement: thanks to concrete tips, everyone can immediately work towards greater inclusion.
  3. Create organizational or team reports based on anonymized data. Gain insight into the set of skills present and development points for inclusion, so the organization can apply targeted interventions.
